When Giant Trolls Threaten Norway, Synopsis Trolls (2022)


 Norway is working on the film Troll which will premiere on December 1, 2022. Directed by Roar Uthaug, it tells the story of a giant Norwegian mythological creature, a troll who wakes up and is on his way to the capital city of Oslo by destroying everything in its path.

The idea for this film's story came from Roar Uthaug who co-wrote the screenplay with Espen Aukan.

This 103-minute film stars Ine Marie Wilmann, Kim Falck, Mads Sjogard Pettersen, Gard B Eidsvold, and Anneke von der Lippe.

Synopsis Trolls (2022)

Tells of a giant ancient troll creature who awakens in the mountains of Dovre after a huge explosion from a railroad tunnel construction project.

Paleontologist Nora Tidemann who grew up in the Dovre mountains is called upon by the government to find out about the tracks left by a giant troll that is on its way to the Norwegian capital, Oslo, destroying everything in its path.

Nora and Prime Minister's adviser, Andreas Isaksen, team up with the military, and his father Tobias Tidemann, to quickly stop the creature before it causes a major disaster that takes many lives.

Initially the Prime Minister and other government representatives did not believe that what they were actually facing was a mythological creature, a giant troll.

However, they don't have much time. Can they stop the trolls? Should Oslo be evacuated immediately?

Ine Marie Wilmann as Nora Tidemann . Norwegian actress Ine Marie Wilmann is known for her roles in Homesick (2015), Sonja: The White Swan (2018), Exit (2019-2021) and Furia (2021). Her acting in Homesick won her the Best Actress award at the 2015 Amanda Awards and the Best Leading Actress in the 2016 Kosmorama.

Kim Falck as Andreas Isaksen . Previously known as Kim Sigurd Falck-Jørgensen, this actor born on November 10, 1983 also played a role in the Norwegian series Ammo and Kuppel 16 which were released this year.

Mads Sjogard Pettersen as Captain Kristoffer Holm . Mads Sjogard Pettersen won the Best Supporting Actor award at the 2009 Amanda Awards for his role in the film Nord (2009). His name is also known through the film The 12th Man (2017) and the Home for Christmas series (2019-2020).

Gard B. Eidsvold as Tobias Tidemann, Nora's father . Gard B. Eidsvold is an actor known for his roles in the film In Order of Disappearance (2014) and the series Aber Bergen (2016). He is also active in the theater world as a producer and has played in 90 film/series titles.

アンネケ・フォン・デア・リッペ首相ベリット・モベルグ。 Anneke von der Lippe became the first Norwegian actress to win an International Emmy Award in 2015 for her role in the series Eyewitness (2014). She has also starred in the series Atlantic Crossing (2020), The Girl from Oslo (2021), and the film The Burning Sea (2021).

In an interview with 730 , director Roar Uthaug revealed that the idea for the story Troll was inspired by a painting entitled Troll at the Karl Johan Street by Theodor Severin Kittelsen.

Roar Uthaug also admitted that he took inspiration from the films Godzilla and King Kong  and the style of Hollywood action-adventure films. Then, the explosion scenes and special effects in this film were assisted by a trained team from Denmark.

Previously, Roar Uthaug was the director who worked on the film Tomb Raider (2018), starring Alicia Vikander. In Norway, he is known for his film work Cold Prey (2006) and The Wave (2015).
